Introduction to the College of Rural Development
Address: 554 National Highway 61 from Can Tho to Hau Giang province, in Hoa Duc hamlet - Hoa An commune - Phung Hiep district - Hau Giang province.
Total area is 112.31ha, the East side borders Bao Mon canal - Hoa Duc hamlet, the West borders Nong Truong canal - Hoa Duc hamlet, the North borders canal 83 - Xeo Tram hamlet, the South borders National Highway 61.
The mission of the College of Rural Development is to focus on training human resources, researching and transferring science and technology with priority for the rural areas of the Mekong Delta.
The establishment of the the College of Rural Development will contribute to meeting the urgent need for human resource training as well as conducting related scientific research for rural areas in the Mekong Delta, keeping up with the socio-economic development of the whole country and other countries in the region. This is an issue that the Government is very concerned about and is focusing all resources on developing "agriculture, farmers and rural areas". At the same time, the establishment of the the College of Rural Development in Hoa An will be a major breakthrough, creating a new direction of development, expanding the scale and influence of the School, creating motivation to upgrade and develop Hoa An campus stably in the long term to become a formal and modern training area.
Main functions, duties and objectives of the College of Rural Development
- The College of Rural Development is a unit under Can Tho University with the function of managing and organizing specialized training for rural areas and carrying out scientific research activities to solve practical problems, contributing to sustainable rural development in the Mekong Delta.
- The core duties of the College of Rural Development include: (i) training in the College's specific key fields and coordinating with other units in the School to organize joint training in necessary fields according to social requirements; (ii) Scientific research and technology transfer to solve practical problems; (iii) Providing consulting services, training human resources, and transferring technology to serve the construction of new rural areas.
- The main objective of the College of Rural Development is to train human resources, improve the qualifications and knowledge of the community, the capacity of local officials as well as research on agricultural and rural issues to meet the process of "Industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas" in the Mekong Delta.
