From 23rd  to 26th September 2024, the College of Rural Development (CRD) at Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed a group of students from the School for International Training (SIT) in the United States, led by Dr. Duong Van Thanh. This group of 10 students came to study agriculture and sustainable rural development in Hoa An commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province. They received enthusiastic support and guidance from CRD’ staff and students.

During time at CRD, the SIT students were introduced to the CRD’s teaching, science research, community development activities, and agriculture and sustainable rural development programs in the Mekong Delta. They also participated in hands-on agricultural activities, such as practicing safe vegetable cultivation and installing biogas bags at local farms to help reduce environmental pollution from animal husbandry.

Figures 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d: The SIT students and CRD students working together to install biogas bags in the local area. This activity helps reduce environmental pollution from animal husbandry operations, promoting sustainable farming practices.

The program was not only a valuable opportunity for the SIT students to experience the strengths of Can Tho University, which are related to agriculture and sustainable rural development but also enhance the responsibilities of students in protecting the environment and natural resources. Moreover, it is also the chance to introduce the life and the culture of Viet Nam; and enhance the relationship between Can Tho University and other university in around the world.
